Ronald McDonald House Charities

The McDonald's Children's Aid Foundation builds and operates Ronald McDonald Houses. She takes care of seriously ill children and advocates for them. The Foundation was established in 1987 as the Ronald McDonald Children's Aid and received in 1997 its present name. The first chairman was Annemarie Renger. Her successor was in 1997 Rita Süssmuth.

The McDonald's Children's Aid Foundation is a subsidiary of the American Foundation Ronald McDonald House Charity. It cooperates closely again and again in Germany with McDonald's and is the parent company as a promotional medium.

Ronald McDonald Houses

Ronald McDonald Houses are named after the McDonald's mascot Ronald McDonald facilities of McDonald's Children's Aid Foundation. They serve families of seriously ill children during hospital treatment to accommodate together and thus reduce the emotional stress for all. Ronald McDonald Houses are located near large children's hospitals, which have a national significance. 2012 there were 17 such houses in Germany, others were planned. The three latest houses were in Essen - opens in Homburg and in Tübingen - the Hundertwasser House in Grugapark. Since its founding in 1987, the Foundation has invested 63.2 million euros in projects for seriously ill children in Germany. Since 1974, over $ 440 million has been invested by the parent organization in social projects worldwide.

In Switzerland there are each a house in Basel, Bellinzona, Bern and St. Gallen and two in Geneva.
