Ronald Waterreus

Ronald Waterreus ( born August 25, 1970 in Lemiers ) is a former Dutch football goalkeeper.

Career

1992 Waterreus began his career at Roda JC Kerkrade. After 1994 he moved to PSV Eindhoven he had soon made itself a name as a goalkeeper. This secured him the appointment to the national team, with whom he took part in the 2004 European Championships.

After ten years as a stock keeper at PSV Waterreus in 2004 moved into the English Premier League to Manchester City for a season. In 2005 he signed then the Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers. He should replace the injured Stefan Klos there. He quickly became the main goalkeeper and was also there when the Rangers for the first time reached the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Ronald Waterreus came under heavy criticism for his club and its fans when he complained to a Dutch newspaper about manager and president of the Rangers. Then Waterreus left the Rangers in July 2006. In December of the same year he signed a short-term contract with AZ Alkmaar before he signed in January 2007 with the New York Red Bulls. There, he finished his career in November 2007.
