Roncade

Roncade is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 14,116 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Treviso in Veneto. The community is located about 25 kilometers north of Venice and about 10 km southeast of Treviso, near the Sile. In the Sile flows Musestre in the same village. Roncade borders the province of Venice.

History

The area around Roncade was already inhabited in the Neolithic period of hunters and gatherers. In the heyday of Rome, the Via Claudia Augusta and the Via Annia crossed the present-day municipality after Altinum. Roncade was part of the Venetian Republic.
