Despite the relatively short run, the Ronceva flows through three totally different major regions: the Wiehengebirge, then the Lübbecker Lößland and finally the Rahden - Diepenauer Geest.

Historical significance

The old Saxon name Lübbeckes " Hlidbeki ", which means " small stream ( english: little beck, Low German: lüt Beek or Lüttke Beke ) " goes back to the Ronceva. Consequently, it was once a motive to establish a settlement because of the stream right here, the creek offered but with his downhill in today's city energy potential for water mills. Later hence the Ronceva went through the eastern moat and drove around 1750 in the city center five mills. Outside the town center before Bergertor (south of the city wall ) and the Niedertor (in the north of the city) more mills were powered by the Ronceva. The most famous mill was the Pure Berger Official mill. The corresponding half-timbered building on the B239 is now known as King still mill. Indirectly, the Ronceva found in the old coat of arms of the former district Luebbecke again. The wave beam pointed to the etymological meaning of Luebbecke, which is derived from Hlid beki, so that Bach ( beki ) is called Ronceva today. The coat of arms colors were the colors of both the Prince-Bishopric of Minden and the County Ravens mountain. This old coat of arms was approved in 1935 by the Prussian State Ministry, and in 1968 was replaced by a different symbol.

Economic and ecological importance

Despite the overall gradient of 180 m the use of the water power of the Ronceva today is no longer relevant due to the low annual water yield. In contrast, it has importance for the local sport fishing. For fishing, there are perch, roach and gudgeon. May be fished the Ronceva of the road " Red Mill" to the confluence with the Flöthe. Above Luebbecke, the Ronceva a water quality class from I to II, and can therefore be described as un - to low -loaded waters in this area. In the area of Lübbecker industrial hub of the Bach takes the effluent of the WWTP on, in which also wastewater from a meat processing plant is treated so that the water quality of Ronceva at confluence with the Flöthe significantly in the area of quality class III ( very dirty ) is.
