Ronchin

Ronchin is a commune with 17,971 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Nord in the Nord-Pas -de- Calais region near the border with Belgium in the area of Lille. The inhabitants Bruant or Ronchinois call themselves.

Geography

Ronchin is surrounded by Lille in the north- west, Hellemmes -Lille in the north, Lezennes in the northeast, Lesquin in the southeast and south and multiple - Thumesnil in the southwest.

Transport links

In the town the highway junction of Autoroute A1 lies with the Autoroute A25 and the A27 Autoroute. The station is served by trains from Ronchin on the railway line Paris -Lille.

History

Since the 9th century, a village under the name Rumcinium is handed down. At first it was a fief of the Abbey of Marchiennes. In 1663 the town was ravaged by the plague.
