Jamael Orondé Barber ( born April 7, 1975 in Roanoke, Virginia ) is a former American professional American football player. He played cornerback and safety for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the National Football League ( NFL).

College

Barber grew up with his brother, Tiki Barber, a later running back to the New York Giants in Roanoke, where he attended high school. In addition to football, he ran rings and athletics and was a national champion sprinter. His brother and he received a scholarship to the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and played there for the Virginia Cavaliers College Football. Barber scored on the college 15 interceptions and 154 tackles. He ran in all 36 games on the Cavaliers from the start.

NFL

1997 Barber was hired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the third round to 66th place of the NFL Draft. His first year with the team from Tampa was disappointing for him, he was only in one game to use.
