Rondinella

Rondinella is a well-known red grape variety from the Italian Veneto. It is a part of Valpolicella, Bardolino, Recioto Amarone and. Blends it is commonly associated with the grape varieties Corvina Veronese Molinara and.

Rondinella is rarely unmixed expanded, as the red wine may have little independent character. Nevertheless, the grape is grown on a larger area. In the 1990s, an area under vines of 2,975 hectares was charged. Their cultivation is recommended in the provinces of Mantua and Verona. The acreage rich be up to Lake Garda. Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In the ampelography the habit is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is open. It is woolly haired with a slightly reddish approach. The greenish young leaves have a bronze approach ( anthocyanin ) and are only slightly hairy.
  • The large leaves are round ( see also the article sheet form) and five-lobed and sinuate deep. The petiole is shaped according to a U-shape or a lyre. The leaves are sharply toothed.
  • The grape pyramidal built up is large ( often about 20 cm long) and moderately densely occupied. The grape is usually shouldered. The roundish berries are medium in size and of a purplish- black color. The berries taste neutral.

The grape ripens about 35 days after Chasselas and so very late. Rondinella is a variety of the noble vine (Vitis vinifera ).
