Rong Yiren

Rong Yiren (Chinese荣毅仁/荣毅仁, Pinyin Rong YIREN; born May 1, 1916 in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, † October 26, 2005 in Beijing) was a Chinese businessman, politician and former Vice President of the People 's Republic of China.

Life

Rong Yiren was until 1949 a successful textile entrepreneur. After the takeover by the Communists, he handed over his fortune to the Communist Party ( CP). In the 60s, Rong Yiren was temporarily suspended the persecution of the Communist Party. After the assumption of office by Deng Xiaoping, however, he joined the government. Deng was also the Rong nicknamed " Red Capitalist " lent; he played a key role in the introduction of economic reforms under Deng Xiaoping.

He was considered the richest man in China (Forbes Magazine) 1999. In his corporate empire some sons of influential party members are represented in leading positions.
