Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition

The Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition or abbreviated RARE was a 1947-1948 continuous expedition that explored the area around the Weddell Sea in Antarctica. The leader was Finn Ronne, the Expedition is distinguished primarily by the fact that she was the last privately sponsored enterprise from the USA. In addition, she was the first expedition wintered on the women in the Antarctic.
