Ronneburg, Hesse

Ronneburg is a municipality in Hesse in the Main- Kinzig district, close to the cities Langenselbold, Budingen, Gelnhausen and Hanau. Namesake of the damages caused by the 1972 local government reorganization municipality is the castle Ronneburg. The castle was built in the 13th century is symbolic on a steep basalt cone.

Neighboring communities and circles

The district Ronneburg bordered to the north on the town of Büdingen ( Wetterau ), to the east by the municipality Gruendau, in the south on the town Langenselbold, on the southwest by the municipality of Neuberg and in the west on the community of Hammerbach.

Community structure

Ronneburg consists of the districts Altwiedermus, Neuwiedermuß and Hüttengesäß. The population is as follows: Altwiedermus about 700, about 600, and Neuwiedermuß Hüttengesäß about 2000 inhabitants.

History

Hüttengesäß

The village Hüttengesäß belonged in the 13th century monastery Selbold. In the 15th century it was sold to the House of Isenburg, in the 17th century to Isenburg - Birstein and in the 19th century Hesse-Cassel. In the Thirty Years' War, strong looting took place. In the 19th century there was a strong emigration to the New World. The old town consists of upper and lower village and had two separate historic Back to 1950 homes. From 1896 to 1931 Hüttengesäß was the terminus of the narrow gauge railway Hanauer.

Wiedermus

The village belonged Wiedermus as Hüttengesäß also to the monastery Selbold. In the Thirty Years' War it was completely destroyed. " Old " wiedermus was subsequently rebuilt. Spelling of place names

In earlier times, the border between the Kingdom of Prussia and the Grand Duchy of Hesse between the villages Altwiedermus and Neuwiedermuß. Altwiedermus was on Hessian territory, and Neuwiedermuß belonged to Prussia. The Hesse wrote the ending ... mus principle with an "s". Even in the Wetterau, it was still common until recently, the name to write Neuwiedermuß as Neuwiedermus just only with simple "s" at the end. Since Altwiedermus to municipal reform in Hesse, the former county Büdingen (now Wetterau ) belonged to this village name is still written with an "s" at the end, while Neuwiedermuß and Hüttengesäß be written with the Prussian " ß ".

Incorporations

At 31 December 1971 included in the run-up to the municipal reform in Hesse, the two communities Neuwiedermuß and Hüttengesäß the new community Ronneburg together. These two villages were part of the former county of Hanau. On August 1, 1972, by an Act the municipality Altwiedermus from the district Büdingen added.

Mayor

The mayor is elected by direct vote for a term of six years. Due to its clear election victory with more than 60 % of the valid votes, Andreas Hofmann ( SPD) since 1 November 2012, Mayor of Ronneburg. He is the successor of longtime mayor Heinz Habermann (SPD ), who retired early for health reasons from his office. The official duties were continued in the meantime for half a year by the volunteer First Assistant Secretary Reinhold pack (SPD).

In Hüttengesäß many half-timbered houses in the long road still preserved from the 18th century and lovingly restored in part.

In Church Street you will find the church built in its foundations in 1151. In the base of the Ostgiebels a Celtic jewelry stone walled.

In the "old rectory " of Ronneburger history and home association establishes several times a year exhibitions around historically interesting topics. In the old vicarage garden still a beautiful old fountain dating from 1715 by church architect Philepps Habermann.

In Altwiedermus in the thief Acher road is next to the numerous half-timbered houses and the former synagogue of the former Jewish community. The Jewish cemetery is hidden behind the sports field Altwiedermus to find.
