Ronny Abraham

Ronny Abraham ( born September 5, 1951 in Alexandria ) is a French lawyer. Since 15 February 2005, he is a judge at the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

Life

Abraham earned a diploma in 1973 at the Institut d' études politiques de Paris and 1974, the Diplôme d' études supérieures in Public Law at the University of Paris I. From 1976 to 1978 he studied at the École nationale d'administration.

He taught until 1998, a professor of international law at the Institut d' études politiques de Paris and was from 1997 to 2003 lecturer at the University of Paris- Nanterre and 2004-2005 Lecturer of International Law and Human Rights at the University of Paris II

Abraham worked as an administrative judge from 1978 to 1985 and from 1987 until 1988, held from 1986 to 1987 the post of Deputy Director of the Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Subsequently, he served as Legal Adviser in the Conseil d' État operate, and from 2000 as a Conseiller d' État, and from 1989 until 1998, a Commissaire du gouvernement to 2000. In the same year he took over the post of Director of the Legal Department at the French Foreign Ministry, which he held until 2005.

Since 15 February 2005 Abraham judge at the International Court in The Hague. He thus entered succeeded his compatriot Gilbert Guillaume, who had resigned on 11 February 2005 by the office of judge. On 6 November 2008, he was re-elected for another term of office beginning on 6 February 2009.
