Roomful of Blues

Roomful of Blues is an American blues and swing band.

History

Roomful of Blues was founded in Westerly, Rhode Iceland by guitarist Duke Robillard and pianist Al Copley in 1967. Originally, they turned to the Chicago blues, but soon they began to swing, jump blues, rhythm & blues and jazz of the '40s and '50s to integrate into their style. To this end, they expanded the band with a horn section. In 1977 the legendary songwriter Doc Pomus their first album, which brought them national attention.

1980 Duke Robillard left the band and was replaced by Ronnie Earl. Through constant touring, they expanded the circle of her fans considerably. The increased sales of their plates. Roomful of Blues also played regularly with blues greats like Jimmy Witherspoon, Jimmy McCracklin, Roy Brown, Big Joe Turner, Eddie " Cleanhead " Vinson and Earl King, stars from the jump blues scene of the '50s.

Over the years they performed at major festivals in Europe, for example at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Joint appearances they married with blues greats such as BB King, Otis Rush and Stevie Ray Vaughan or rock musicians such as Eric Clapton and Carlos Santana.
