Roosendaal

( Listen? / I ) Roosendaal is a municipality in the Netherlands, in the province of North Brabant. It has a total area of ​​approximately 107.2 km ² and 1 January 2013, lived here 77 171 inhabitants. The municipality consists of the town of the same name next to the villages Nispen, Wouw and some smaller towns.

History

The village Roosendaal originated in the 13th century a chapel. In the 15th and 16th centuries was the trade with peat important. Roosendaal in 1809 declared by King Louis Bonaparte to the city. When the Belgian railways in 1854 had opened the line Antwerp - Roosendaal -Breda, the heyday of the city began.

Sports
