Rop protein

Rop proteins ( Rho of plants ) belong to the monomeric ( small ) G- proteins and are found only in plants. They have important functions in plant signal transduction within the cell. In processes such as the growth of the pollen tube or the provision of the different plant cell lines Rop protein are essential.

Like all G proteins have an intrinsic GTPase activity Rops. The nucleotide is catalyzed like other G proteins, GTP - exchange factors ( also referred to as RopGEF ).
