Ropaži

Ropaži a place in Latvia, about 34 km north-east of Riga is located, and the center of the district of the same ( Ropažu novads ).

The town lies on the banks of the Jugla and was already settled by the Livs, whose language is derived the place name. Already mentioned in 1205, was here until the 16th century, a castle of the Teutonic Knights, whose ruins can still be seen today.

Since the 19th century it was the center of a church that was converted into the present county in 2009.
