Rope climbing

Under rope climbing or Tauklettern, Tauhangeln is meant climbing on a rope. Tauhangeln was at the beginning of the 20th century an Olympic competition; in 1896 Nikolaos Andriakopoulos won the competition. The last competition in Tauhangeln took place at the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles; it won Raymond Henry " Benny " bass. Today, the rope climbing has no material value as a sport. When Lake Port -around the Tauklettern is one of the country disciplines, but is nowadays advertised only rarely in competition.

Outside of sport climbing the rope has been found as a professional climbing technology, such as in the field of tree care or technical climbing, the way in the professional world. The climbing with rope assistance proves to be, in many cases as a flexible, inexpensive and environmentally friendly alternative to the use of scaffolding or work platforms. To secure the climber and transport of equipment and materials this is usually the double rope technique is applied.
