Rosa × centifolia, even cabbage rose, Provence Rose or Cabbage Rose called, is a group of roses with double flowers, which is erected in the late 16th century in Holland by breeding. The cabbage rose was - as it has been found through a genetic test - as a cross between Rosa gallica, Rosa moschata, Rosa canina and Rosa damascena ×. The growth of Rosa × centifolia is comparable to the Wild Rose Rosa gallica, strongly spiny shrubs up to 2 m, their flowers are abundant, in groups, filled overhanging and strong - " centifolia " means hundertblättrig. Zentifolien were often depicted by Flemish and Dutch painters of still life, which is why they were known as the " Rose of the Peintres ".

A subset of Zentifolien are the moss roses. Most varieties of moss roses were grown to about 1850.
