Rosalnice

Rosalnice ( Rosalnitz ) is a place in the Slovenian region of Carniola and is located about 2 km to the east away Metlika ( Möttling ) away. The village has some old and partially preserved thatched farmhouses. The Croatian village Bubnjarci is in sight, just across the Kupa, which serves as a border river since the 12th century. This is also where the 1913 built steel railway bridge over the river, which continued the tracks from 1914 towards Karlovac.

Churches ( Tri Fare )

Rosalnice is known as a place of pilgrimage, because here there is a unique complex of three Gothic churches Tri Fare is (three parishes ), surrounded by a common wall. It is the most important monument of the Bela Krajina. The first churches were built in the second half of the 12th century by the Knights Templar established in Metlika. In 1469, this complex has been set and destroyed by the advancing Turks on fire.

  • The (northern ) Church of mourning Rosary consists of a fully Baroque style ship with a vault instead of the flat ceiling and a rib- vaulted chancel with polygonal circuit ( around 1400). The main portal is Gothic. The beautiful frescoes inside reflect the late Baroque style contradicts (1842, J. Egartner ). The interior of the church is of valuable late Baroque interior from the 2nd half of the 18th century.
  • The ( central ) church Ecce Homo consists of a rectangular nave, which was built in the Baroque to a domed octagon, and a rib- vaulted chancel with polygonal circuit together ( late 15th century ). The frescoes in the dome were painted by J. Tavčar Idrija in the style of the late Baroque.
  • The (southern ) Mother of God Church consists of a nave, which was rebuilt in the 19th century to three ships, and a polygonal, almost round final chorus with a ribbed vault (15th century). In the choir is a beautiful late-Gothic sanctuary; external traces of Gothic frescoes are still preserved. Here is also the oldest surviving organ, built by the organ builder Jonnes Georgius Eisel 1753.

Attractions

The coming of Metlika road leads on to the border with Croatia over the village of Božakovo (Saint Mary Magdalene ), about 1 km away, with its beautiful church. Pay a visit is also the breakthrough of the Kupa below the village in a westerly direction.
