Roscoe G. Dickinson

Roscoe Gilkey Dickinson ( May 3, 1894 in Brewer, Maine; † July 13, 1945 in Pasadena, California ) was an American chemist. He was a professor at Caltech.

Dickinson studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1920 and his doctorate at Arthur Amos Noyes at Caltech, the first doctoral student at all of Caltech. In his dissertation he examined with X-ray crystal structure of Wulfenite, scheelite, sodium chlorate and sodium bromate.

He dealt with X-ray crystallography and was the father of Doctor Linus Pauling and Arnold Orville Beckman.
