Roscoe Tanner

Roscoe Tanner ( * October 15, 1951 in Chattanooga ) is a former American professional tennis player.

His greatest success as a tennis player in 1977 was winning the Australian Open. As a serve- and -volley player him lay the grass courts, and so he made it to the finals of Wimbledon in 1979, where he brought to the brink of defeat, the great Bjorn Borg.

He won a total of 16 tennis tournaments and in 1981 with the American team to the Davis Cup. In 1984 he retired from tennis. As some former professional tennis player, he came to the end of his career not cope with life and had continually financial problems. In 2003 he was sentenced by a court in Florida to 10 years in prison on probation because he had committed check fraud. He also stood for grand larceny and forgery in court. Also, the maintenance obligation towards his daughter he had not complied. In 2006, he had to compete for violating probation, a two -year prison sentence.
