Rose Laurens

Rose Laurens ( born March 4, 1953 actually rose podwójny ) is a French pop singer. Her biggest success is the 1983 released single Africa.

Career

Her musical career began Rose Laurens, then under her birth name Rose podwójny, as a singer of the progressive rock band Desert Rose. The band around guitarist Jean -Pierre Alarcen published in 1972 their only album that bears the band's name and is considered a classic of the genre, especially in France. However, personal and musical disagreements led already at the end of the dissolution of the band.

Then she met the composer Jean -Pierre Goussaud know and the two were not only a musical pair. Under her pseudonym Rose Merryl first published in 1976, the singer her first solo single, composed by Goussaud In Space. Your first hit they had in 1979 with the title Survivre after they had changed their name to Rose Laurens.

The following year, she played the role of Fantine in Les Misérables premiere of the hit musical in Paris and the performances and the album release helped her to greater awareness. For over a year she was on the musical stage and then worked on her solo album, released in 1982 under the title déraisonnable. Simultaneously, the first single Africa became a big hit and million-seller in France. It was written by Goussaud and written by Jean -Michel Bériat. In the unofficial charts, it was listed as number one. Then the title in English as Africa ( Voodoo Master) was added (Text: Elaine Stive ) and published throughout Europe. Again, the song was very successful and reached identification of the top 3 in the German speaking countries.

With Mamy Yoko Rose Laurens then had another hit from the follow-up album Vivre, who still became well known abroad, but she remained internationally a one- hit wonder, despite another album titled Africa - Voodoo Master with many English language titles.

In 1986, she recorded for the album ECRIS ta vie sur moi songs that had been texted by famous French musicians such as Francis Cabrel, Yves Simon and Yves Duteil. Composer was again her partner Goussaud, which, however, shortly afterwards difficult with cancer. There was still one last album together in 1990 before he died. 1995 saw the date last solo album by Rose Laurens.

A few years later she appeared in the musical L' ombre d'un François Valéry on géant of and had together with Sophie Delmas and Hanna H with the derived therefrom Title pour aimer plus fort in 2001 another chart hit.
