Rose Royce

Rose Royce was an American soul, funk and disco band, which had been compiled by Motown music producer and songwriter Norman Whitfield ( best known for his work with the Temptations ).

The first consisting of 8 members group was founded at the beginning of the 1970s in Los Angeles. At the beginning they called themselves "Total Concept Unlimited" and appeared as a backing band for Edwin Starr as well as a studio musician for The Temptations and The Undisputed Truth. Members were Kenji Brown, Kenny Copeland, Freddie Dunn, Henry Garner, Lequient "Duke Jobe, Michael Moore, Victor Nix and Gerrai Santiel.

In 1976, the singer Gwen Dickey newly added, and the band name was changed to Rose Royce. The band played the Whitfield -produced soundtrack for the musical comedy Car Wash - The freaky laundromat, and the title track became the biggest success of the group and a million seller.

Gwen Dickey succeeded in 1998 once again made ​​it into the U.S. charts: Together with Jay -Z, she took on a new version of " Wishing On A Star " and got away with it at number 13 in the UK charts.
