Rosecliff

Rosecliff is a former manor house and now a museum in the Beaux- Arts style in Newport, Rhode Iceland. It was built in 1898-1902 by architect Stanford White on behalf of the silver mines heiress Theresa Fair Oelrichs and her husband Hermann Oelrichs.

The Grand Trianon from the inspired but also influenced by the Palladian style building elements has a heart-shaped staircase and the largest ballroom in Newport. It was donated in the 1970s, the Newport County Preservation Society and can be visited. In 1974, it served as glamorous backdrop for the novel adaptation The Great Gatsby with Robert Redford. Furthermore, the ballroom also served as a filming location in the movie True Lies with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
