Rosemarie Wenner

Rosemarie Wenner ( born July 1, 1955 in Epping near Heilbronn ) is the reigning bishop of the United Methodist Church ( UMC ) in Germany and from April 2012 to 2014 President of the Bishops' Council of the UMC.

Life

Rosemarie Wenner studied at the Theological Seminary of the United Methodist Church in Reutlingen. After her ordination in 1981, she worked as a parish pastor, in the townships Karlsruhe- Durlach, Hockenheim and Darmstadt / Sprendlingen. From 1996, she was superintendent of the Frankfurt District of the Church. After her election on 16 February 2005 by the Central Conference in Germany has assumed the office of bishop in the United Methodist Church was the first woman outside the United States on April 1, 2005. It is the successor of Bishop Walter Klaiber, who has held the post since 1989.
