Rosenau (Königsberg)

Rosenau was located a quarter of Königsberg ( Prussia), southeast of Haberberg and south of Mühlenhof.

Name

The name is Old Prussian origin and describes a slightly damp area: " rasa " ( dew, humidity); " Rasyte " (Goddess for the watering of vegetation with morning dew ).

History

Rosenau was incorporated in 1905 in Königsberg. It was an insignificant village, which served as a housing estate after the construction of the railway line in the growing city. Coined the village was through allotments. To the northwest lay the sports field at the Friedländer Tor and the bathhouse and the slaughterhouse. Hugo Stinnes founded the " East Prussian machines mbH " and built the factory from the " Odinwerk " in Rosenau, one of the largest machine shops and foundries in eastern Germany.

Religious buildings

The village church was built after 1914 and is now an Orthodox church.
