Rosendahl

The community Rosendahl ( Low German Rausendaal ) is located in North Rhine -Westphalia in Coesfeld in Western Munsterland between Coesfeld and Steinfurt.

Geography

Geographical location

Rosendahl is located at the foot of the tree in the western mountains Munsterland. In the district Darfeld springs the Vecht River, which flows through Lower Saxony by the Netherlands and flows into the IJsselmeer. In the district Osterwick ( Höven ) arises from the spelled, which also flows through the western Munsterland and opens in the Netherlands in the Vecht.

Neighboring communities

In the north the communities Legden, Schöppingen and Horstmar adjoin the community Rosendahl. In the east, the municipality of Laer and in the southeast the city Billerbeck connects. History

Originally designated the name Rosendahl a district between Darfeld and Osterwick where in a valley ( dael / dahl ) was a favorable location for wild roses; this district was in use until the division in 1826 and 1847 as a common pasture -fields of May and Easter Wickern. Incorporations

The villages Darfeld, Holt Wick and Osterwick that were first documented in 890, formed earlier than independent communities the District Osterwick. Effective 1 July 1969, first the previous communities Darfeld and Osterwick were merged to form the new municipality Rosendahl. On January 1, 1975, the former municipality of Holt Wick was added.

Community partnerships

The municipality maintains Rosendahl since October 4, 1970, a partnership with the French community Entrammes. It has about 2,000 inhabitants and is located 930 km away, in the department of Mayenne. First contacts with the creation of a partnership have already been taken in 1969. The 25th anniversary of the partnership was celebrated in October 1995 on the occasion of the meeting from September 29 to October 3, 1995 in Entrammes.
