Rōshi

Rōshi (Japanese老师) is a respectful form of address, especially the experienced authorized teachers is met with in Zen Buddhism. Rōshi translates as much as old teacher or old masters and refers to a person who instructs a Zen Community ( Sangha ) spiritually. Despite the literal meaning of the title has nothing to do with the actual age of the person, but is used to express awe and reverence towards the person.
