Rosie Douglas

Roosevelt "Rosie" Douglas ( * October 15, 1941; † 1 October 2000 in Portsmouth ) was a politician dominicanischer. In 2000 he was Prime Minister of the Caribbean island for eight months.

Douglas earned during his political career, the reputation of a radical socialist reformer. In the parliamentary elections on 31 January 2000, he led the Dominica Labour Party to victory against the ruling United Workers Party of Prime Minister Edison James. He formed a coalition with the moderate Dominica Freedom Party and joined James' successor in the office of the Prime Minister on February 3, 2000.

After only eight months in office, Douglas was found dead at his home in Portsmouth on 1 October 2000. He was only the day before returned from a state visit to Australia, Taiwan, Canada and Jamaica.

His successor Foreign Minister Pierre Charles was determined.
