Geography

Geographical location

Röslau is located on 569 m above sea level. NN in the valley of the Eger at the junction of state highways in 2177 and 2180 and is the geographical center of the Fichtelgebirge.

History

The place Rößlein was first recorded in 1398 in the fief of the book Nuremberg Castle Count Johann III. mentioned. 1419 Heinz von Lüchau was invested with the manor. 1467 was the place to the Lords of Reitsenstein; 1488 was the fief to William of Schirnding, who owned the greater part of Röslau as a fief in the sequence.

1651 the fief Oberröslau Philip of forest rock was awarded. 1754 there was a division of the manor Oberröslau, and mid-19th century it came to civil possession.

1826 was the place Ludwig Field, which was incorporated in 1925 by Oberröslau. The construction of the railway Fichtelgebirgshalle 1875-1877 there are significant industries settled. From 1907 to 2000, there was the ancestral home of the porcelain manufacturer Gebr Winterling.

In 1963 the name of the village green was officially changed to Unterröslau.

The 600- year old village was incorporated in 1956, following Dürnberg Oberröslau. On January 1, 1966, the voluntary amalgamation of municipalities Oberröslau and Unterröslau.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1978 parts of the territory of the dissolved municipality Neudes were incorporated.

Culture and sights

  • Twelve summit views to the north of the local part Oberröslau, central point with a panoramic view over the entire Fichtelgebirge (twelve summit)
  • Thusfall, 28 meters high waterfall of Eger in Malthus to visit only for Thusfest at Pentecost (see also: Waterfalls in Germany )
  • Nature Trail A landscape with traces of use
  • Unicorn Fountain, 1995 created by the sculptor Wolfgang Stefan.
  • A tomb with a memorial stone in the cemetery commemorates four concentration camp victims who perished in the Nazi dictatorship.

Mayor Torsten Gebhardt ( SPD), who won in the election on November 27, 2011 against two rival candidates. Its predecessor was Gerald Schade ( CSU).

The municipal council ( election period in 2008 /14) of Röslau has 15 members including the mayor.

Economy and infrastructure

Röslau is the seat of steel and wire work Röslau GmbH, a manufacturer of spring steel wire and leader of musical strings for upright and grand pianos.

Coat of arms

Since 1967 Röslau does the same crest that Oberröslau then received in 1928. The blazon of the arms is: Azure, on a golden Dreienberg a rising silver unicorn. The former manor of the lords of the forest rock is symbolized by the unicorn, the three mountain refers to the situation in the Fichtelgebirge.

Traffic

The breakpoint Röslau is located on the railway line Regensburg Oberkotzau.
