Rossa, Switzerland

Rossa GR

Rossa is a municipality in the district Moesa the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland.

The municipality consists of Rossa and the formerly independent communities Augio and Santa Domenica GR. Further down the valley is the fraction Valbella, which also belongs to Rossa. Rossa is the last village in Calancatal and the last bus stop.

From Rossa from a mule track over the pass di Giümela ( 2117 m above sea level ) leads to Fontana in Val Pontirone.

Coat of arms

Blazon: In red, a silver (white ) right oblique beams, covered with a green lime tree branch.

The coat of arms motif of linden branch refers to the freedom Linde Rossa, the only Linde in Calancatal.

The coat of arms of former municipalities Augio and Sta. Domenica have with the merger with community Rossa no legal force, but their colors are found in the retained arms of Rossa again.

The coat of arms of Augio showed: In a pale red as asked green branch of lilies with silver ( white ) flowers. The branch of lilies is the attribute of the two patrons of the parish church of Augio: St. Joseph and St. Anthony of Padua.

The coat of arms of Sta. Domenica showed: In green the bust of Saint Domenica with golden yellow nimbus and black religious habit. The coat of arms contains a reference to the name of the place and the patronal feast of the parish church.

Tourism

There are many parts steep trails in unspoilt nature. In about three hours to reach the bewartete in summer Buffalorahütte on Sentiero Alpino Calanca.
