Rossenges is a municipality in the district Broye Vully the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.

Geography

Rossenges is located on 662 m above sea level. M., 22.5 km southwest of the district town Payerne ( straight line ). The small village extends on a Molassehöhenzug northeast of the Jorat, west of the Valley of the Broye, in the eastern canton of Vaud Mittelland.

Population

With 59 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Rossenges one of the smallest municipalities in the canton of Vaud. Of the 94.1 % inhabitants are French-speaking and German-speaking 5.9 % (as of 2000). The population of Rossenges amounted in 1900 to 94 inhabitants. Thereafter, until 1990, by strong emigration recorded a decrease by around 50 % to 46 residents; Since then, the population increased again slightly.

Economy

Rossenges was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. History

The first written mention of the town took place in 1309. The place name is derived from the Burgundian personal names Rauso or Rozzo and means for the people of Rauso / Rozzo. Rossenges belonged since its first mention of the under Savoyard rule Moudon. With the conquest of Vaud by Bern in 1536, the village came under the administration of the bailiwick Moudon. It was not until 1749 Rossenges was one of Moudon independent, independent community. After the collapse of the ancien régime Rossenges belonged from 1798 to 1803 during the Helvetic Republic to the canton of Geneva, who came up then with the enactment of the Act of Mediation in the canton of Vaud. 1798 was assigned to the District Moudon.
