Rostislav Stratimirovic

Rostislav Stratimirowitsch (Bulgarian: Ростислав Стратимирович; Russian: Ростислав Страшимирович; * Tarnovo in Bulgaria; † Tolotschanowo in Russia), Prince of Turnovo, was elected leader of the Second Bulgarian uprising of Tarnovo to the Ottomans in 1686 and was a descendant of the medieval Bulgarian manor house of Schischmaniden.

1686 visited Rostislav Stratimirowitsch Moscow, where he asked the Russian Patriarch Yoakim for help in the preparation of the uprising against the Ottoman Empire. The agreement was signed by the engagement between the prince and the niece of the Patriarch - asserted - Maria Dubrovska. Meanwhile, the rebellion broke out in the old Bulgarian capital - Tarnovo - from. Rostislav returned back to Bulgaria, but the Ottoman Empire was much more powerful and the rebellion was suppressed. Badly wounded sought Rostislav to the Rila Monastery, where the monks saved his life. After many adventures, he returned to Moscow, where he married Maria Dubrovska and laid the foundations of the Russian noble family Saweliew - Rostislawich. One of his descendants is the Russian writer Nikolai Saweliew - Rostislawich.
