Dmitri Glebko (CEO)

RosUkrEnergo AG (Russian РосУкрЭнерго, short RUE ) is a company founded in July 2004 to natural gas specialized trading company based in train, Switzerland. RosUkrEnergo was founded as a Russian- Ukrainian partner companies as middlemen, buying natural gas in Central Asia (Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan ) and Russia and sell it in Ukraine at the state enterprise Naftohas as well as to other states.

One half of the company is owned by the Russian company Gazprom ( through its subsidiary RosGas Holding AG), the other half of Centragas Holding AG, which Ukrainian entrepreneurs, including Dmytro Firtash (45%) and Ivan Fursin ( 5%), represents.

Part of the imported by the company from Russia gas is sold on the world market at higher prices, so the natural gas business for the middleman is considered extremely lucrative. As Ukrainian beneficiaries of these transactions both the environment of the former President Viktor Yushchenko and the party of his successor Viktor Yanukovych were called.

In the past, there have already been several times, around the years 2005/2006 and 2008/2009, due to late payment by the Ukraine, to stop the Russian natural gas supplies. Since such a step also affects the transit of natural gas to EU countries, the natural gas business or the Russian-Ukrainian dispute over this issue as politically sensitive applies and also has a great international significance.

The beginning of 2009 tried the former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to liquidate through negotiations with the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, RosUkrEnergo and the company off from the gas trade between the two countries. That at this time held by the intermediary of natural gas worth about $ 4.5 billion went into the ownership of the Ukrainian state-owned company Naftohas.

After the election victory of Yanukovych in the presidential elections in Ukraine in 2010 RosUkrEnergo but took back the old role as a middleman. In the context of proceedings pending before an arbitral Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, Naftohas was committed in March 2011, RosUkrEnergo to hand over eleven billion cubic meters of natural gas to compensate for the amount of gas withdrawn in January 2009.

The Ukrainian opposition saw this step mainly the result of the close links between Dmytro Firtash and the Party of Yanukovych. The government of Yanukovych had exerted pressure on Naftohas and achieved in this way that the state-owned enterprises had declared before the Stockholm Arbitration Institute, the acquisition of the RosUkrEnergo gas in 2009 had come to no legal way about.
