Roswitha Krause

Roswitha Krause ( born November 3, 1949 in Dahme / Mark ) is a German swimmer and Handball. She went to the GDR and won Olympic medals in both sports.

Roswitha Krause began as a child in swimming and came at the age of eleven years to a Children and Youth Sports School. In 1968 she took part in the Olympic Games in Mexico City and won the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay silver medal. At 20, she began playing handball, originally in order to improve their fitness for swimming. In 1971 she gave up the sport of swimming, and focused on the handball. In the same year Krause came into the first team of the TSC Berlin. With this, she won the 1977 and 1979 European Cup Winners' Cup and 1978 European Cup of Champions. In 1973 she was appointed for the first time in the GDR team and was with this in 1975 and 1978 Handball World Champion. At the 1976 Olympic Games she won the silver medal with the team at the next Games in 1980 was followed by a bronze medal.

Roswitha Krause now teaches at the Humboldt University in Berlin swimming and handball.
