Rotatores muscles

The Musculi rotatores (Latin for " rotators " ) are a group of short, extending over one to two spinal segments skeletal muscles. They belong within the orstständigen back muscles to so-called transversospinal System ( Systema transversospinale ). You pull, like all muscles of this system, from the transverse processes to the spinous processes of higher -lying vortex. The Musculi rotatores below the Musculi multifidus and are due to the lower number of skipped vortex steeper than the latter asked. They serve to stabilize the spine.

The Musculi rotatores be divided under two perspectives on:

  • According to the number of skipped vortex is subdivided them into the Musculi rotatores breves ( a vortex ) and
  • Musculi rotatores longi (two vertebrae).
  • The musculi rotatores lumborum ( lumbar spine),
  • The musculi rotatores thoracis ( thoracic spine ) and
  • The musculi cervicis rotatores ( cervical spine ).
  • Skeletal muscle of the trunk
  • Spinal column
