Rotor (electric)

A rotor (Latin = Rotare, revolve ') is the rotating (rotating ) part of a machine or an assembly. In particular, is referred to a rotor, when there is a stator. The investigation and solution of the problems with faster rotation is the task of rotor dynamics as technical science.

Electrical Engineering

In rotating electrical machines of the entire rotating part of the machine is referred to as a rotor or alternatively as a runner as the squirrel cage. Depending on the design of the machine are also the designations anchor or anchor drum, inductor or magnet wheel usual. In linear motors, only the term runner is used.

Aerodynamics

With aerodynamically acting rotors, such as the propellers of aircraft (see also propeller ), is meant by the totality of rotor hub, blades and rotary axis. Instead of the simple hub helicopters and wind turbines have a rotor head with blade angle adjustment.
