RotorWay Exec

The RotorWay Exec is a two-seat, single-engine helicopter kit from the American manufacturer RotorWay International with piston engine.

History

The helicopter was introduced in 1980 as Exec 90 on the market. After a bankruptcy and the incorporation of RotorWay came in 1990 improved Exec 90 on the market. In August 1994, the Exec 90 was replaced by the Exec 162F. The machine is sold as a kit without paint and avionics.

Technology

It is a product manufactured in plastic / metal construction model with a conventional Haupt-/Heckrotorauslegung and a skid landing gear. In the kit, the critical components are supplied pre-assembled. The wiring harness is pre-fabricated. The construction period is according to factory specification for an experienced mechanic about 500 hours for the normal kit and 250 hours for the now only available quick mounting kit.

Like its predecessor, it featured a 4- cylinder boxer engine with a carburetor. Special feature is the asymmetrical profiled blades of two-blade main rotor, which facilitate the auto-rotation process. The tail rotor is driven via a belt, in order to avoid a complicated and expensive transmission.

Currently, the Exec 162F is supplied, which has as main innovation via an injection engine with FADEC. Senior Exec can be retrofitted with a stage on the current state.

By August 2003 700 kits were delivered. The price is U.S. $ 100,000, - ( 2010).
