History

The place name comes from a book clearance, since the beginnings of the town and the monastery date back to a clearing. First mention was in 1073, as Welf IV gave the already existing Klosterrotte book large tracts of land on both sides of the river Ammer. The village was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark together with Böbing, wild climbing and Schoenberg. Through the Reich 1803 Hofmark the monastery was abolished.

The former Hofmark gang book of administrative reforms in the Kingdom of Bavaria created in the course with the congregation of 1818 the political communities Rottenbuch, Böbing, wild climbing and Schoenberg.
