Rottenberg village is a municipality in the district of Würzburg, Lower Franconia, and a sub- community of Würzburg. Originally it was probably red or Rodendorf.

History

As part of the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg ( Stift Haug ), which belonged to the Frankish Empire Circle, Hordes village was secularized in 1803 in Bavaria's favor, then the Peace of Pressburg (1805 ) Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany left to form the Grand Duchy of Würzburg, with which it finally fell to Bavaria in 1814.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms shows the divided shield; above in red three silver tips - down in Azure, a chevron. The three silver tips in red ( Franconian rake ) and the arms of silver and red symbolize the Bishopric and cathedral chapter of Würzburg. The golden chevrons on a blue background is the emblem of Stift Haug, Würzburg removed. The coat of arms was designed by the late Rottendorfer painter and graphic Ossi Krapf and approved by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior on 15 February 1962.

Twinning

  • The partnership for the northern French town of Troarn (about 10 km from Caen ) exists since 1987.

Rottenberg village has a station at which the train line Nuremberg -Würzburg and the line Würzburg -Bamberg branch. On the route to Nuremberg runs every hour a Regional-Express, on the way to Bamberg also hourly regional train.

Rottenberg village is situated on the national highway 8, about the nearby junction Rottendorf and Biebelried is the highway reaches 3 and 7.
