Roudnice

Roudnice ( German Raudnitz ) is a municipality with 608 inhabitants in the Czech Republic.

Location

The over 3.5 -km-long road village located 13 kilometers west of Hradec Králové, in 235 m asl the creek Roudnický creek before its confluence with the Bystřice. In the middle of the place, the trench Hubenická svodnice empties into the village stream. East joins Roudnice to the community Lhota pod Libčany.

History

The place Rudnicz was first documented in 1384. At the end of the 14th century originated in the west of the fortress Roudnice Torino, whose owners Beneš of Riesenburg was. Other owners were Hinko Hlavatsch of Dauba ( Hynek Hlaváč z Dubé ), a family Marquart, the Soběslav on Miletínek and Wilhelm II of Pernštejna which connected it with his rule Pardubice.

Following the sale of Pardubice 1560 Raudnitz was beaten to rule Karlskrone.

Personalities

  • Since 1622 lived in Roudnice the family Veverka, which the brothers František ( 1796-1849 ) and Václav Veverka ( 1799-1849 ) belonged. The farmer František Veverka constructed together with his brother Václav, who was a blacksmith, the first steep applied for Sturzpflüge.
  • The father of the painter Jan Matejko comes from Roudnice.
  • Matěj Chvojka (1755 - 1791), born in Roudnice, leader of the peasant revolt of 1775.
