Roundhay Garden Scene is an experimental short film by Louis Le Prince in 1888 and is the oldest film in history.

He was shot by Louis Le Prince in the garden of the Whitley family in Oakwood Grange, Roundhay, a suburb of Leeds, possibly on October 14. He is the son of cameraman Adolphe Le Prince, Mrs. Sarah Whitley, Joseph Whitley and Miss Harriet Hartley, as they go around laughing in the garden. 1888 is the latest possible date of origin, as Mrs. Whitley, the mother of Le Prince, on October 24, 1888 died.

It was filmed with a single- lens camera on paper film. Today only exist fragments of the film as photographic copies.
