Rouvres-en-Xaintois

Rouvres -en- Xaintois is a commune of 288 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in Lorraine. It belongs to the district Neufchâteau and Canton Mirecourt.

Geography

The community Rouvres -en- Xaintois located south of the Xaintois, about 40 kilometers north- west of Epinal. The landscape around Rouvres is hilly and dominated by grain fields. History

The town was first mentioned in 1109 as Ruver in a document. Since 1801, the village will perform the landscape designation in the name. In the Ancien Régime, the village belonged to the Bailiwick of Mirecourt. The domination of Rouvres was divided: part of the village belonged to the lords of Bassompierre in Baudricourt, a small part belonged to the lords of Châtenois who reported directly to the king.
