Rouvres-en-Xaintois
Rouvres -en- Xaintois is a commune of 288 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in Lorraine. It belongs to the district Neufchâteau and Canton Mirecourt.
Geography
The community Rouvres -en- Xaintois located south of the Xaintois, about 40 kilometers north- west of Epinal. The landscape around Rouvres is hilly and dominated by grain fields. In the southwest corner of the community has a stake in the Bois lingerie Haye, more forest areas are in the south-east ( Pransieux Bois, Bois Brebière ), in the middle ( Bois du Chanot ) and northwest (Le Breuilles ) of the municipality. In Rouvres the Ruisseau du Groseillier empties into the Cochon, which flows through Val d' Arol Madon and to the Moselle and belongs to the catchment area of the Rhine, while the southwestern part of the community area belongs to the catchment area of the river Meuse.
Neighboring communities of Rouvres -en- Xaintois are Oëlleville in the north, Baudricourt in the east, in the southeast Remicourt, Offroicourt south, Gemmelincourt in the southwest and Dombasle -en- Xaintois and Menil -en- Xaintois in the West.
History
The town was first mentioned in 1109 as Ruver in a document. Since 1801, the village will perform the landscape designation in the name. In the Ancien Régime, the village belonged to the Bailiwick of Mirecourt. The domination of Rouvres was divided: part of the village belonged to the lords of Bassompierre in Baudricourt, a small part belonged to the lords of Châtenois who reported directly to the king. Also, the abbot of Chaumousey had manorial rights in Rouvres. In the time of the French Revolution Rouvres was the capital of the 6th canton in the district of Mirecourt. 1832 the municipality increased by a forest that was previously an enclave of community Baudricourt. The church, dedicated to St. Eliphius, was part of the Deanery of the Diocese of Toul Poussay within. The present church dates from the year 1856., The mayor 's and boys ' school building was built in 1833, the girls' school followed in 1836.

Economy and infrastructure
Agriculture continues to play a role in Rouvres and environment. Some residents are commuters to the commercial areas of Gironcourt -sur- Vraine and at Epinal Mirecourt Airport. The partially -developed two-lane expressway (D 166) of Epinal Mirecourt after about Neufchâteau bypasses Rouvres in the south with two connections to the west and east of the village center. Road connections also exist in the neighboring communities Offroicourt and Oëlleville.
