Roxheim

Roxheim is a municipality in the district of Bad Kreuznach in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Rüdesheim.

Geography

Roxheim is located at Katzenbach north of the Nahe.

To Roxheim the residential places Rollars mill and Schauß include mill.

History

The place was mentioned as Hrocchesheim documented in 773. Today's Evangelical Church Roxheim dates from the 13th century. From 1350 it belonged to the County of Sponheim. After the French Revolution Roxheim was 16 years part of the Rhine -Moselle department. 1815-1945 it belonged to Prussia.

Coat of arms

The blue and gold checkerboard pattern in the coat of arms recalls the former belonging to the County of Sponheim, the grape symbolizes the important place for the wine and the arrows point to the saints Sebastian, who was the patron saint of the local church since the 12th century.
