Roy Blunt

Roy Blunt ( born January 10, 1950 in Niangua, Webster County, Missouri) is an American politician. Since January 2011 he has been Senator for Missouri in the United States Senate.

Life

After school Blunt studied history at Southwest Baptist University and Southwest Missouri State University. He is a member of the Republican Party. Between 1984 and 1993 he held the office of Secretary of State of Missouri. From 1997 to 2011 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States, where he held from 2007 to 2009 as Minority Whip, the second highest position in the Group of the Republicans. On 2 November 2010 he won the Senate elections. Blunt followed in the Senate of the United States the long-term Republican incumbent Kit Bond.

1967 Blunt married Roseann Ray, with whom he has three children. His son Matt Blunt was 2005-2009 Governor of the State of Missouri. After 35 years of marriage took place in 2002 divorce. His second wife, Abigail Perlman Blunt married in 2003. Together they adopted a child from Russia. Blunt lives in Strafford, Missouri.
