Roy Budd

Roy Budd ( born March 14, 1947 in London, † August 7, 1993 ) was a British composer of film music and jazz pianist.

Budd began very young to play the piano. Especially Oscar Peterson influenced him in his early years, his style has remained attached. Budd led his first trio at the age of 17 years; he was accompanied by Peter McGirk on bass and Trevor Tomkins on drums. After completing his schooling Budd started playing solo, then he formed a new trio with Jeff Clyne ( bass) - later replaced by Pete Morgan - and Chris Karan (drums). In Germany, you know his work, and from various television shows with his first wife, Caterina Valente, who sang some of his compositions.

1970 Budd composed the film score for the Western The Soldier Blue ( Soldier Blue ). He wrote over 50 film scores; his greatest successes were Get Carter, Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, Mama Dracula and The Carey conspiracy. The 1993 published new composition for the Lon Chaney silent classic The Phantom of the Opera (1925 ) was one of his last works.

2005 Soundtrack Label Film Score Monthly released its ( complete ) soundtrack to The Carey conspiracy (The Carey Treatment ) new, along with the soundtracks by Jerry Goldsmith Coma and Westworld by Fred Karlin in a limited edition on two CDs.
