Roy Kennedy, Baron Kennedy of Southwark

Roy Kennedy, Baron Kennedy of Southwark ( born November 9, 1962) is a British Labour politician and life peer. In 1990 he became full-time party functionary. From 1991 he was a party organizer in Coventry. He contributed to the defeat of militant Trotskyist MPs Dave Nellist, who was voted out at the British general election, 1992. In 1994 he moved to the East Midlands and was there from 1997 to 2005 the Regional Director. He was director of finance and compliance of the party in late 2005. On June 21, 2010, he was elevated as ' Baron Kennedy of Southwark to Life Peer. His maiden speech in the House of Lords he held on 21 July 2010.

On September 30, he finished his work for the party after more than 20 years. The next day, October 1, 2010, he was appointed Electoral Commissioner of the party.

His wife Alicia Kennedy was until 2011 Deputy General Secretary of the Labour Party. 2013, they also appointed Life Peer.
