Roy Lassiter

Roy Lassiter ( born March 9, 1969 in Washington, DC ) is a former American football player and coach.

Lassiter ran from 1993 to 2004 for teams in Costa Rica, Italy and the United States. For most of his career he spent in Major League Soccer, where he played from the first season in 1996. He also holds the record for most goals scored in one season.

Playing career

Youth and College

Lassi Rochester came to the U.S. capital Washington on the world, but grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina. There he attended the Athens Drive High School, where he was part of the soccer school team. In his senior year he was named North Carolina State 4-A Player of the Year. In the same year he moved with the team in the State Championship ( State Cup) and scored in a season total of 47 goals. Besides school, he played for the local club Raleigh United.

After graduating from high school, he moved to the Lees- McRae College, which is located in Banner Elk. A year later he moved to the North Carolina State University, where he was elected twice in the selection team All -ACC.

First stations in Costa Rica

From 1993 to 1996 he played in Costa Rica football. Only for unterklassigen Turrialba Asociación Deportiva Carmelita and, from 1994, for the first division club LD Alajuelense. After the 1994/1995 season Lassi Rochester received offers from Mexico and Europe. Alajuelense offered the young Americans a bonus of $ 60,000 if he would continue to play for the team. Lassi Rochester consented and was elected in 1995 as the best foreign player of the year. In his last season he was able to win with the club the title.

Major League Soccer

In 1996 he moved into the Major League Soccer and was discharged there on Tampa Bay Mutiny. In his first season he was top scorer with 27 goals. In October 1996, he was loaned to Italian second division Genoa. He was not just the expectations and could not score a goal in twelve league games.

He finished his career in 2004 at Laredo Heat in the USL Premier Development League.

National

In total, he completed 30 caps for the U.S. national team. His first try in an international match had Lassiter on January 25, 1992 in the selection of the CIS.

Coaching career

After his playing days, he became the " director of coaching " of the Austin United Capital Soccer Club. He held from 2005 to 2007 this office. He then became Vice President of the Mustangs FC. He holds the USSF A and youth coaching license. 2010 Lassiter was part of the coaching staff of the Metros Soccer Academy.
