Life

Childhood and youth

Born in Arkansas, Roy Moss was the cousin of the governor of Arkansas, Orville Chaney. More about his childhood or youth is not known.

Career

His career began when Moss met the songwriter Jimmie Skinner. Skinner mediated Moss on to the radio station WNOP. Along with the band The Country Partners he appeared there regularly. Impressed by Elvis Presley's appearances in the KWKH Louisiana Hayride changed Moss 1954 Rockabilly. Presley helped Moss to appearances in the nationally televised Hayride. By Skinner and Lou Epstein, who were also his manager, Moss received a recording contract with Mercury Records. His first single, there was the Skinner song You're My Big Baby Now, which was released in January 1956. A second single was released in May of the same year. The next three years remained Moss the uptake studies remotely. Instead, he had the opportunity to work with country stars such as Pee Wee King, Cowboy Copas and Ray Price. Moss was living in Detroit, Michigan, where he performed in various television and radio broadcasts. With the Jimmie Skinner Show, a live road show, Moss toured for a while.

1958 Moss published another single, Juanita, for the smaller Fascination label. The song was covered later by Dale Hawkins on his first album. In the late 1950s Moss retired from the music scene and began working as a farmer in Tennessee. Only in 1994 ventured Moss a comeback with guitarist Johnny Patterson. In addition, an album was released by Eagle Records.
