Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union

Called BirdLife Australia, Birds Australia to 2012 and to 1996 Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union ( RAOU ), is an Australian organization founded in 1901 by birdwatchers. Your goal is to research and the preservation of native birds in Australia. This makes it the oldest institution of Australia, which has the protection of birds goal.

The organization has also advocated that some birds got names that go back to their designation by the Aborigines. So wearing the 1865 "Australian Crane " bird called today the name Brolgakranich.
