Royal Border Bridge

The Royal Border Bridge is a 658 m long railway viaduct between Tweedmouth and Berwick -upon- Tweed. The railroad crossing while the mouth of the River Tweed in the North Sea. About 28 sheets at a height of 38 m the East Coast Main Line passes over the bridge with Royal approval symbolically marked the transition from England to Scotland. The current limit point is located a few miles further north.

Designed and built the bridge was officially opened under the direction of Robert Stephenson 1847-1850 and in a twelve-minute ceremony by Queen Victoria.
